TRIMS AND PROFILES FOR CERAMIC TILES AND STONE

Trims are installed wherever a clean finish for the tiles is required. They protect the tile edges against mechanical impacts and therefore extend the useful life of your tiles. Profiles can create an optical distinction between different coverings or tiles, or provide for a uniform and harmonious look in the same colour tone. They are also ideal as an edge profile for wall projections, skirting elements, corners, niches and floor edges. Made of aluminium, stainless steel, brass or plastic, the different kinds of tile profiles offer ideal edge protection and lend a decorative look in the wall and floor areas. The most common forms of tile profiles are square, angled and quarter-circle tile trims. The Blanke Systems range of tile profiles also includes corner angles, sill profiles and shadow joint profiles.

Would you like to know more about tile profiles?

We will explain the differences between the individual tile profiles, shapes and surfaces in more detail. You will also learn how you can best use tile rails and what design options the use of tile rails offers in the bathroom or living room.

Why are tile profiles useful?

Tile profiles or edge protector trims round off a tile covering visually and functionally. Tiles are generally known as robust floor or wall coverings, but the tile can suffer damage such as chips or cracks during daily use. The edge of the tile in particular is often affected because this area is sensitive. To prevent such damage, Blanke offers you a large selection of different tile rails. Tile profiles offer the perfect protection and at the same time set visually appealing accents.

The possible uses of tile profiles

edge protector trims are primarily used to protect the tile edge and create a harmonious look. Open tile edges can have sharp edges, are very sensitive and also quickly become dirty because dirt and residue can easily adhere to the rough surface.
Profiles can also be used to create a visual separation between different coverings or tiles or natural stone. They are also ideal as a finishing profile for wall projections, as a finish for skirting boards, floor edges or niches.

Cut or bend tile profiles

Depending on the type of tile profile, the profiles can be attached in a variety of ways. The Blanke profiles are inserted underneath the tile using the tile adhesive when laying the tile. Depending on the tile thickness, the tile end rails are available in different heights and can therefore be adjusted to the thickness of the covering. If you would like to adjust the length of the profiles to your tile or wall, you can simply cut or bend the profiles. This means that round edges, round platforms or special shapes can also be finished with a tile profile. Tile profiles are not only found on the floor, but also often as a finish in wall design. They can be processed vertically or horizontally and can also be used as a decorative element for niches, mosaic pictures or create attractive accents.

Geometries and shapes of tile profiles

Square, angle profile, quarter circle profile or tile end profile - you have probably already seen these variants of tile profiles in one or two bathrooms. On the one hand, the profiles differ in material, for example stainless steel, aluminum or customer fabric, but what immediately catches the eye is the shape of the outer edge of the profile.

The classic - the tile end rail

Angle profiles, also known as tile end rail, are the simplest and best-known form among tile profiles. This profile shape covers unsightly edges and protects the tile edge from wear and tear or mechanical stress. They are used in all areas of the house. Thanks to different material thicknesses, angle rails can be used even in areas with long-term and heavy use. In addition to the protective function in the corner area, these profiles also serve as a design element

We offer the BLANKE TILE END RAILS in aluminum, stainless steel, brass and plastic. You can find other unusual colors such as gray, beige, rust red or black in the BLANKE NEW YORK EDITION.

Square tile profiles

In contrast to conventional end profiles, Square profiles are characterized by the rectangular, symmetrical visible surface and impress with their exceptionally decorative corner look. At Blanke you will find the square profiles under the name BLANKE CUBELINE. This profile shape catches the eye, but its simple shape means it fits well into the overall composition of the wall or floor surfaces. They can be used as a separating, edge protection and finishing profile and ensure a modern design in the bathroom or living room. Their square shape makes them particularly robust and is used where tiles need to meet the highest requirements. The Blanke square profiles are available in aluminum or stainless steel.

The round solution - quarter circle profiles

Quarter circle profiles or round profiles are used to easily create rounded edges. In addition to its protective effect, the round shape is suitable for eye-catching designs and beautiful curves in combination with tiles. The round profiles can also be used with a wide variety of surface coverings such as carpet, laminate, parquet or natural stone. Like the other profiles, these can be arranged both vertically and horizontally.

In the Blanke range you will find the BLANKE QUARTER CIRCLE PROFILES made of aluminum, stainless steel and PVC with suitable accessories such as interior and outside corners.

Installation of tile profiles

Depending on the model, you can get the tile rails from us in the following heights:

  • 6mm
  • 8mm
  • 10mm
  • 11mm
  • 12.5mm
  • 15mm
Tile profiles should always be 1-2mm higher as the tile thickness select to create a nice finish with the tile edge.

Cleaning and care of tile profiles

In principle, tile rails do not require any special care. Depending on the coating or surface, you can clean the tile rails with commercially available cleaning products. Cleaning products for profiles must not contain acids or caustic ingredients. You should also avoid cleaners with abrasive particles such as scouring milk. Stainless steel profiles are the all-rounders in the profile sector. They are particularly robust and fit almost every tile. For powder-coated profiles or special surfaces, cleaning should be as gentle as possible to avoid possible scratches.
